Religious Education

As a Catholic School instruction in Catholic faith is a characteristic of St Patrick’s school curriculum. The Religious Education curriculum supports the catechetical and evangelising mission of the Church while supporting young people in their lifelong journey in faith.

The Religious Education curriculum has been developed to stimulate and challenge students, especially in their understanding of Scripture and Tradition, their critical thinking and moral reasoning. It is based upon sound pedagogical practices. Central to the curriculum, and its effective teaching, is the ‘To Know, Worship and Love’ textbook series and resources.

All teachers of Religious Education are practicing Catholics who hold appropriate Religious Education qualifications.

Students attend School Masses fortnightly and also participate in daily Prayers as a part of the Religious Education program. Primary classes attend the Sacrament of Reconciliation on a regular basis.

The school and parish share many celebrations together, these include the Beginning and End of Year Mass, Year 6 Graduation, St Patrick’s day, Ash Wednesday, Catholic Schools Week, NAIDOC Week, and other liturgical celebrations. The Parish are always invited to attend class buddy Masses.

The school works with the Parish to prepare children each year for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Confirmation is celebrated every two years.
